Gday all.

Got a quick question. Pretty sure it's nothing to be worried about, but i thought i'd get a few opinions anyway.

Ive got a 8 - 9 month old male coastal. Has been feeding every week on weaner mice untill 3 weeks ago. He has now refused 3 feeds in a row. Its been 22 days since a feed.

Since i bought him he has been steadily growing in length and weight, but over the last three weeks has dropped 5gramms. He is currently 70cm and 65g, but was 70g 2 weeks ago.

He is in a 52L Starmaid tub, with a heat mat, hide and water bowl. His hot spot temp is 35 deg, with a max of 40 in the hot hide. The ambiant air temp is 15 currently (at his perch) and approx 10 deg in the cold.

I'm guessing that its just the colder weather thats causing the refusals but what are your thoughts. Its quite strange as my 6month female Childreni is still going strong on her feeds.

Any opinions or thought are much appreciated.

Cheers

Nat

any chance he might be shedding? i think 10deg at cool end is bit cool, where does he spend most of his time? when you say refuse, does he seem interested at all or not?

he shed 2 weeks back, so i doubt he's shedding.

He spends most of the day in the warm end in the 30-40deg area. at night, he comes out and cruises around, mainly on the perches, which average 15-20.

He does seem interested, but just wont strike at the mouse. After a couple mins he loses all interest and retreats away to do his own thing.
