Hi I am new to the forum and am having a problem with one of my pythons I have never had before. He will take mice like they are going out of fashion but has no interest in Rats I would even go as far as saying he is shy of them.

If anyone has ever had a similar problem and solved it I would appreciate the help. He is healthy, sheds well, eats mice no problems. Born Jan 2010.

Are you feeding rats with fur. or are you trying to feed 'fuzzy' rats cos they're the same size as the mice you are feeding,? a couple of my darwins would touch anything that didn't have adult fur.... although at 8 months old he should be taking weaner sized rats quite well,

try keeping 6 mice in with 1 rat in the same bag in the freezer, feed him on the mice, then try the rat last, the rat smell should gradually get stronger on the mice as the weeks go by.
