Hi there
I was hoping for a few opinions on this pic which I wanted to use for my front page of a web site I am trying to put together. I have a thick skin so and won't be offended should anybody not like it. But I figure who better to get input but fellow herpers. I am also wanting to know what people like to actually see or like in a reptile web site.
Cheers Dave

Looks excellent, on a site i like lotsa pics and prices on animals. Heard Adrian Hogg is there with you Dave, tell him Mike Moore says g'day, aint seen him in years.

pretty sweet mate, i like it.

lots of pics is what u need, herps love nothing else more.
also some interesting info on special features of the species. ie - aspidites having no heat pits, womas method of throwing coils to subdue prey etc etc

Thanks for the advise guys I appreciate it. I would like if possiable to feature live footage of collecting over here up dated every week.

I like it - as for the website content, it will depend who its aimed at. If its for selling stuff, I like pictures, stock availablity, prices and care sheets/FAQs

Looks the goods to me Dave but i reckon bumblebee should be on there as well.Info on sizes and temperament and as has been said heaps of good photos of every species etc you can take would be great as there's not much info on herps in WA and you guys are in the gts of it.

If you're setting up a web site does that mean you'll be selling animals through the site and exporting over here?

yes looks good dave but think like brouns said you need to add bumble bee cause its realy special lots of pics like everyones saying of the actual animals you have up for sale

I really wanted to put the bumblebee on the front page but I don't have any good pics and the snake is now in Queensland. The site is really just a business site but I would like to make it interesting and informative as possible.

I reckon the pic looks great!

Personally, I'd love to see some stories about your herping adventures out in the field. Always gets me interested anyways...

That pics Great! Just put on what animals are for sale, prices, care etc. Also an inportant part update it quiet often i've found queit a few reptile sites say we have 2 western beardies (or another reptile) in stock and you go there and they're sold. Put on the list of reptiles we're allowed to keep in WA aswell as the licence form.

BTW thats a sexy stimmi on that pic... well they're all sexy.

Hi Dave,

Looks very good.

Like the use of the white text on the the back ground - it can be hard to pick picture that works well with a single colour of text - so well done. (Prob. less of an issue now everyone has broadband, but make sure the image is not massive in file size (IMO 50kb should be about the max size of the front page).

BTW. the things that drive me nuts about on-line stores (not that you asked for it - just copying everyone else) are sites that:

- do not have pictures up of everything for sale (even the cheapest item needs a picture)

- items that have "contact us for special price"

- out of date items (ie. snake for sale only one left with a date posted of 1-Jul-1973 etc.)

regards

Al.

Nice front page Dave....I'd like to see regular articles on the pilbara's less talked about species, seen while out there doing it. Include plenty of habitat shots which would give people an idea on how to set their desert enclosures up. Aswell as portraying, the incredible diversity in herps, and the extreme and colourful habitat in which they live....a 'Oz herp' paradise, that it is.

Theres always one that goes against the grain, i shall be him today.

I think it looks a little tacky honestly, the contrast between the snakes and the background make it look like a very amatuer effort.

Lose the other snakes and have the pic (or a pic) of the woma spread across the background and i think it should look a bit better.

Maybe move the "pilbara" to the top left corner, leave the "pythons" in place and incorporate a nice pic of something like the woma or a bhp from bottom left to top right.

JMO and as you said you are thick skinned so im sure you can handle it. ;)

Cheers, Alan.
