I was wondering if anyone could PM me a contact number for the AHS or any other person/society who might be able to help me.

I work in a veterinary clinic and we have just had a corn snake handed into us. We are wanting to explore whether there are any legal avenues that we can go down instead of euthanizing a perfectly healthy snake.

Both Taronga Zoo and the Reptile Park have said they cannot take it in.

Hi Axsnake,

I doubt very much that the AHS will be able to assist you and think you'll find that you have no other option other than to euthanize it. Due to quarantine policies you'll find the same response from any zoo or wildlife park that you received from Taronga and the ARP.

Pure and simply it is illegal for private keepers to have exotics (which includes corns).

Cheers,

George.

Yes it can be unfortunate but because it is an exotic species it poses a risk to the Australian species and should be euthanised for the greater good!

Thanks guys. It was worth a try. The snake has been euthanised.
