If you want to keep it simple and get over it then take your $1000 reward and buy a new rsp. If you haven't got it back by now I don't think you have much chance

Oh wow...how awesomely insightful are you?
Feeling like a big man now, kicking people when they're down to up your post count?
You dont have a point, you're just a jerk.

Sucks you have to see them all the time, I hope you get it back. One issue may be people won't want to give you their identity in order to give the snake back and get the reward :/

If I had the snake and you guys offered $1000 I would be thinking sweet I will sell it back to them then rob them again cause they will pay me more money for the reptile back than I could get selling it.

It sucks the situation your in and I feel sorry for you guys. Best thing would be to put that money too a new RSP and move on. It sucks I know cause from memory from the other post this was your first snake(correct me if I'm wrong)

I hope it all works out for you guys and you can move on without fear of it happening again

...do people not realize they don't want an rsp in general, they want justice? clearly they've considered new animals and know they're able to buy one.

Yeah I get that but they don't want to confront these people or get someone to do it for them and I honestly do see how offering them $1000 is going to get it back.
Its a crap situation to be in but if the police aren't doing anymore then what can they do

He was not my first snake (I've been keeping reptiles for 11 years now), RSP's are my all time favorite python and he was my first RSP (he was a surprise gift).

I have found someone on this forum that has the brother and sister of my RSP and he has bred them. I'm getting a hatchling off him, hopefully next week. It's not Roudy, but Roudy is the uncle of this hatchling.

This doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying to get Roudy back, but at least I'll be keeping his bloodline.

We were already in the process of moving. A rare breif moment occurred when no one was home and that's when they let themselves in with a screwdriver and steak knife. They had just gotten Roudy from his enclosure when we got back so they bolted. I try to think what could have happen if we where home 5mins earlier or later. All I can think is that Roudy would have been left in his tank or in a container on the floor.

How was I kicking them while they were down? They said the dad hang around bikies and they don't want to be hassled, so I said go and buy a new one that way you won't have to try and deal with them because of his back. And I'm the one trying to get my post count up kettle calling the pot black by the sounds of it!!!

I would get a particularly aggro ven of some form, start bragging about the great new "python" you've got that's worth heaps, but that you have no room so it lives on the front porch for now. Kid comes over to steal the "valuable" "python", and your problem is solved. You can go over to his house to "pay your respects" and steal your RSP back.

Ok, let me just clarify. The people that have my RSP, are not the same people that robbed me. I don't know if the people that have my RSP were in on it or not. The only thing I know about them is, their address, occupation, company name and the fathers name.

The house where the police searched is this the property with 2-3 buildings out the back?
So the kid that stole it doesn't actually live there?
Make some new flyers up with the $1000 reward(or whatever you want to pay) and drop them down that street so it looks like your not singling out a house and see if you get a response?
Other than confronting the people which by the sounds of things you guys dont really want to do, which I understand as I probably wouldn't do the same, the flyer might make them aware of the reward without risking your health

i know its a little late change your tactics but what about putting on the flyer that it simply escaped and you are offering a $1000 reward might make them come forward under the disguise that they only found it , i know its not the best way having to give the buggers your $$$ but it just might work

Already tried that. The flyers said he "went missing". We never once said the word stolen.

hmmmm well that sucks then i hope it works out for you in the end , i guess all you can really do is keep trying with the flyers and the reward and hope that they might get bored of him and claim the "reward" if you can call it that :(

Yes, the police searched the house with 2-3 small building out the back (but didn't search the small buildings).

No, the kid that robbed me doesn't live there.

The police left a "reward" flyer with them when they searched the main house, so their aware of it and the reward. I want to do a letter box drop to them, but their the only house on that street, on a main road and very out of the way from other houses. So it's not like a normal paperboy route.

If someone kidnapped a member of my family and I knew who they were ....anyway you get my drift . I feel for you mate . Difficult situation . Offer the kid who called you the reward and I bet the snake finds it's way back to you .. good luck .

this is a good point the kid just might be able to steal it back off his mate if he ever gets the chance and make out like it just escaped , a similar thing happened to someone i know he had 3 of his darwins stolen by his sons friends , he completely skipped the police and he had them all back within a week

The guy that tipped me off, is not a kid, probably 50-60 years old. He's a respected person in there little community, so they all trust him. He has already made it extremely clear to me, that the only part he's playing in this, is the part of the anonymous tip-off.

His next words to me were "I'm not having anything else to do with it, because I don't want to have to go buy a gun and kill someone again, I've only just gotten out of prison after 20 years and I'm not going back".

When someone tells you that, you say. "Ok thanks for the info bye :D" and you leave them right out of it after that.

Sorry, I misread. Although, I would still do that to the lowlife scum who stole your snakey to begin with.

Secondly, would it be at all possible to maybe have a "completely unrelated" third party have a contrived meeting with the person who has it and offer to buy it from them? That way you get your python back, and everyone's noses are legally clean. And hopefully karma's currently on the backswing of a massive kick up the backside for the little snot who stole it in the first place.
