Hi all, I wonder if someone can help me, ive been breeding mice for a few months now without any hassles (they go in box 4 and come out 34) easy right, well not recently. Recently, ive been losing about 80% of all the weaners about a week after im taking them away from the herum. Im so clean a so concise of any decease, they are really well feed, I just dont know whats going on.

i did have that in my head and if it is the case i will kick myself cause ive been building a heated closet for them for month now .....maybe i should pull me finger out . Cheers

yeah they were weaned, as i said its only just startd happening before now ive had a 100% success with no problems.

I'd be inclined to go with Ash. I know you say you haven't had problems in the past but leave them in there for an extra week and just see if it helps. It can't do any harm

Did you check their noses/mouths/bums etc to make sure there were no fluids that could give you a hint? If there's nothing physically wrong maybe they've been weaned too early, or it could be they are too cold.

Freshly weaned rodents will collapse and die very quickly if they get a cold spike!
This is why those of us who breed quite a few have invested heavily in sheds that are climate controled!

For mice and rats the target [ideal] temperature is 23c
