For a day or two my Children's python had milky spots on his skin, it was around his neck, middle of his body and three-quarters of the way down then the next day it was like he was shedding in all this different spots, and underneath his scales were further apart then usual. I got out the "Whats wrong with my snake book" and had a read, I read about the mites and it looked similar but then it said they mainly occur around the head, but theres nothing noticeable there, so then I read the Dehydration section and that looks to be the problem.

I've been giving him fresh every 1 or 2 days. He is quite a lazy snake, could he just be to lazy to grab a drink? I've been misting his cage lately and giving him a soak once a night, is there anything else I should do?

Thanks a heap!

if you think hes dehydrated spray his face gently till a drop sits where his tongue comes out, he'll flick his tounge and the water will go in,...then just repeat till you think hes had enough.

he mightnt like it but @ least you'll know hes definately getting fluids,...

the easier option is to take him in the shower and as he ducks back and forth under the water flicking his tounge he wont have a choice but to drink a bit,....

Thanks Chris, I've been spraying his head quite often and he flickers his tongue like crazy, I also spray around his water bowl, on the walls to try get him to go and drink from his water bowl but he mainly just licks the droplets from the walls.

I'll keep repeating this method until the "shedding spots" are gone.

Thanks again.

dont wast time spraying his head, just continue to soak him in luke warm water, he will absorb more water via his cloaca then you will ever get him to drink.

but yeah if you've been soakign him i doubt the [problem is dehydration

where in ipswich are you, im pretty sick at the moment but i would be happy t come have a look at him for you
