ive just noticed my week old levis eggs are denting =( this really anyoed me as ive done everything right and its my pairs 3rd clutch , both eggs each have nice pink lines an small pink discs which im sure it means there perfectly fertile , any help is greatly appreciated

any an all are welcome to post cheers in advance

50:50 vermeculite water ratio is fine
i guess i could spray the sides of the container?

try a 50/50 perlite ratio and see how you go

if the eggs are denting it means there too hot or dehydrated

grab a piece of papertowl and place it over the eggs and mist the towel with water , repeat as the towel dry out and until the eggs are fully inflated again

this has worked for me on several occasions when females have laid ontop of the heat source while I was at work

yeah sound dehydrated.
had some turtle eggs do this recently after a couple of days, poured a little water down sides of container (dont get eggs wet) and next day nice and plump again.

ps only pour a little water, if they arnt plump tomorrow, add a little more. best to under do as appose to overdo the water.

cheers guys ill give it a try ive heard of doing the papaer towel one but didnt wanan risk soaking them so ill give it a try

Thanks Kupper and Cheddah

Is the container sealed? Theres something wrong with the method, ive hatched a lot of Nephrurus eggs and havent had any issues unless i got to the eggs too late.

I dont put any holes in personally. Small sealed (completely) containers have done the trick.

i tryed that with the first 2 clutches it made it too moist an molded the eggs however the mold could be from the fact that there to first 2 clutches

Try baking the vermiculite to kill any mould spores before using it. I hatched quite a few last season this way and only the infertile eggs moulded.

ah i see didnt think of that one =D are you using a homemade incubator?

Ive incubated in foam eskies, plastic eskies, hovabators and fridges.....shouldnt make a difference.

Aside from killing spores the baking should bring the moisture level in the vermiculite back to 0 aswell so you get a better mix.

ah ok well im using a hovabator ( no fan) hopefully the eggs will be fine mabye the other two clutches were just infertile but i know that these are fertile
