Hi Everyone,

My Diamond Shed about two weeks ago and his eye's cleared almost instantly. They have now gone cloudy again, I have also noticed him breathing quite deeply but I can't hear any wheezing. I handled him two days ago and he was a little jumpy.

Should I be concerned or is this quite normal?

Sounds like he's ready to shed again, how old is he? Heavy breathing can just be excitement in young snakes and most snakes are more jumpy toward shedding thanks to the cloudy eyes.

Oh really, I thought it would be over a month until he sheds again. If that's the case then i'll up the humidity in his vivarium and leave him alone.

Does the shedding have a pattern or can it be unpredictable?

How long have you had him? Yeah usually the sheds are fairly predictable but it's all about the growth rate, especially as a youngster. My 3 month albino darwin is shedding about once every fortnight to 3 weeks.

A growing hatchling/juvenile should be shedding about every 6-8 weeks.

It's pretty warm up here at the mo and I've been having to keep him cool as it is. It might've been a month inbetween but I'm not concerned. I've always found it to be pretty variable between individuals and species.
