I have a pair of diamond pythons both have been cooled over winter and have been brought out of this in september. The problem is that the male has had one feed since then and the female nothing. I'm pretty sure she is not gravid as she is a bit to small.

I have read on here that diamond pythons wont eat over the breeding season. My question is when should they start eating by? How long is too long with out eating and being in temps of 29 degress? They both look healthy as in they're doing alot of toungue flicking. thanks

I have read on other sites that male pythons most often refuse food until about November. Whilst in breeding mode perhaps they can only think of one thing. But all my males are eating even though they have all been distracted.

Not sure on the weather down there, but is it ok to presume its probably a lot cooler in VIC than it is further up here. Perhaps the weather is just still too cold. Regardless of the heat you give them, they still know it when the air temperature is cold. Their cool end could be colder than their liking, and if you turn off their heat overnight the cooler nights might still be detering them from feeding.

It is too early to start worrying yet. I have heard of snakes going months or more without food. I don't recommend waiting by your calender, but keep an eye on their general heatlh and well being. If all is good in that department, you have mentioned they are, they will eat when they are ready.

i wouldn't panic, they will start smashing the food when they are ready. just keep there temps up.

Ok thanks guys. You might be right mysnakesau as this is the first season I have turned their heat off at night I used to keep it at 17 degrees before at night. I shall keep watching them.
