Do they get more lazy?

I was wondering about activity levels of snakes.

My hatchling wheatbelt never stays still while we have him out. He doesn't race like he is scared but is very curious and wants to get down or on to anything he can.

Are certain breeds more sedentary?
Do they become calmer as they age?

My older sisters jungle python is always on the move when being handled, as they grow they will just be a lot easier to handle and not as easy to worry about dropping, we put the jungle python on the grass then he moves as slow as a turtle
