I have a female diamond that had a shed approx 2 weeks ago , she hasn't eaten since may and refuses all food , she seems to be seeking allot of heat. She isn't overly big and I have had my doubts to whether or not she could be gravid. Over the past two days I have noticed what seems to be ripples or lumps down her side , but then I think to myself that my eyes may be playing tricks . What do you guys think from the attached pic ? Gravid or not ?

Yep gravid by the looks mate. Prob about 2-3 weeks from belly up.

Looks lumpy to me, keep us updated.... These threads are great for people like me who have never bred (well reptiles anyway) and can gain a little knowledge through people documenting their experience.... Good stuff!!!

I'm not sure about my Northern Diamond at the moment either! Mating was witnessed and everything is going as it should, judging by her last shed though she is due to lay any day now but doesn't even seem big compared to the other seasons i've bred her, but she is showing all the signs ie laying belly up and looking rather uncomfortable!

Perhaps she just doesn't have as many eggs this season ~

I would say she is gravid, if she shed 2 weeks ago- she should lay approx 22days after that shed.

She is a Gosford form , with quite high yellow.

She was housed in an avairy when I purchased her several weeks ago. Now she is indoors do you think that it's a good idea that she stays indoor being gravid ? I don't want her to stress out

As long as the temps are comfortable for her I can't see as stress issue. Keep a large shallow water source and a cool end and all should be good.

I have seen heaps of gravid pythons over the years and going by that pic it is impossible to tell. How does she react when picked up? Does she tense up or stay relaxed? Is the area in question really firm?

She is extremely sensitive to touch , hisses and is very agitated. However I really don't know how she handled prior , as I have only had her several weeks. To me the area in question does feel firm , especially for a snake that hasn't eaten since may and refuses to eat :)

This Thursday will be 21 days since her shed , so I guess time will tell :) I just thought that I would share :) if she is gravid do I use a fully sealed container in the incubator ?

I have asked this a couple times with no straight answer...do u or do u not seal the incubator tub? i know people let fresh air in...if this is the case y fully seal it...plz someone answer this simple question

CONGRATS! How many eggs?
Since no one answered this.....sealed tub or not for the eggs?

Around 15 eggs , I have used a sealed tub with one small hole on the top

Congratulations! Now you're gonna have to wait the agonising time it takes until you see little head popping up!
Hope all goes well for her and you!
