well, i ran out of mice to feed my childreni with. the guy had to wait an extra 2 days after he sceduled feed. i ended up buying a packet pisces frozen laboratory feeders, which had 10 fuzzies in it.

get home, open the packet and see the mice there (sort of). they were frozen in very bad conditions! blood frozen all over the packet, and each mouse was frozen together, then had blood frozen to them so it was like an iceblock with mice in it.

non the less i fed the snake 2 fuzzies, which where very thin.

im dissapointed with the quality of the mice, and i wont be buying them from that brand again!

i went and asked them if i could see how they dispatch them , when i was a shop owner.
they brick em and pack em.
i have had heaps of blood and feasies on them before and bad smell too.
the thing that contributes the most is that they are picked up in the afternoon and delivered the next by aussie air , even though they are dilivered with ice packs they are semiwarm by the time they reach your shop.
then re frozen
then sit until someone wants them.
thats why i used private breeders for shop stock and bred my own for my stock.

bloody oath, this brand is WAY overpriced and their "fuzzies" are normally half pink. 20 bucks for 8 tiny poor excuses for rodents i think not, only made that mistake once.

i would breed my own mice, but having just one snake i dont think it would be the best idea hence why i buy the rodents

Welcome to the world of Pisces. I don't think i've ever heard ONE good comment about them, they should be put of business.

Tell the shop owner and them tell them what other brands are available. They dont know if you dont tell them!

piscies do alot of other stuff that is quality but this is why shops use them
they can get all different little things at one place and there place is huge it would be hard for people to take them on ..... or out

I agree sometimes petshop owners need to be trained just like their stock
It worked for me
Have not seen a pieces product since and i got to support 2 local businesses in the process

get a small tub and set it up for a female or two and a male and let them do their thing. when they have a litter cull the male, let them grow up to the size you want, cull and freeze them as well as the females. then when you are nearly out of stock, go to the petshop and start again.
You can feed them fruit and veg scraps and dog food it will work out way cheaper in the end even if you only have one snake.

thats not a bad idea! might give it a go when im not flat broke

mean time, il try and find a breeder in the area or il just buy from where i previously did i which i was happy with the rodents

Where I bought Ruby from, they have a really good stock of food, frozen, and they are individually frozen, no blocks, and I think they breed them themselves. Place in Hoppers Crossing, if you live anywhere close. And from memory they were not that expensive.

a while ago, when this thread first came out, i read it, and the day after had to go to get more food for my girl, and since i had to up her feeds and he didnt have any ready sub adults of his own, he gave me this brand. i reluctantly took them, (cant complain if youve never tried).

they are shocking. theyre messy, not arranged in a snake-swallowing friendly way, blood, fecal matter and they smell awful! also it seems that livor mortis (the settling of the blood to the lowest point not touching surface) has happened before freezing. since this is the last occurrence of death, (the first second and third being palor, livor and rigor mortis) before decomposition of the body, i am disgusted and horrified to wonder how long theyre sitting in those bags before theyre actually frozen.

I am going to write a letter to the company.

i would emplore anyone else who feels their method is unnecessary and a concern for the reptiles eating this to write to them as well. the more complaints they get, the likelier it is that they wont just blow the complaints off.

There are plenty of alternative suppliers around now. You cant teach an old dog new tricks. If you complain to your petshop they will find a new supplier. Many shops only stock brands out of habit and dont realise there are problems unless you tell them.
