Normally there is only 2 reasons snakes do this, first is they're to hot & trying to find a way out, if this is the case they'll spend alot of time up at the glass doors (or lid)
The other reason is they're just climbing around they're tank.

Found that online for you mate hope that helps.

27.5 at the cool end which is where he is now and 30 at the hot end

Some times the enclosure can be to small. My snake does it sometimes but she on roaming around and exploring. Do you have 2 hides on each ends ?

Have you got any thing for it to climb on?

Yeah the stick with fake leaves is at the cool end and the plain one is where he basks in the hot end, it's worrying me because normally he's very aware of me as soon as I open the door he turns to look but ATM I actually have to touch him for him to notice I'm there :/

IMO hes just resting his head, ive got a couple here that do the same..By the way i dont think its a Coastal its a Port Mac diamond-Intergrade,a female i have here that looks the same, either way hes nice..

pretty confidently say NO it isnt , lots of snakes do this all of mine included , his just looking for a hole in the glass :) probably find he does it alot when your not their

stargazing is different (although ive never personally witnessed it)

I hope not :( he seems pretty normal when I get him out so fingers crossed I'm just being overprotective

I wouldn't worry about it. Both of mine do that. As soon I touch one of them he goes straight into his hide. As there exploring and don't want to be disturb.

You think?? He was sold to me as a coastal carpet here's a better pic of him, what do you think?

It looks like a diamond. What are the humidity levels ?

I don't have a humidity gauge but I just misted his tank yesterday morning

Theres the hidy hole at the warm end and he usually hides in the corner underneath the leaves at the cool end when he's up there

This is the first time I've seen him doing this but having said that I'm normally not up this late so he could do it every night and I wouldn't know

Is he feeding good and shedding good ? I wouldn't really worry about it. As they are very active out night and like to explore.

I think you guys are right I'm being a worry wart here's another pic he's stopped now so I'd say he was exploring or maybe sleeping as is probably highly annoyed I interrupted him
