i have never come across this problem before but 1 of my younger pythons seems to have really dry skin is there any reason for this? & how can i fix it as it made his last shed really hard on him. is it just a matter of buying that mist stuff i see in the pet shops or.......?????

I got a diamond in one of the deccw ballots awhile back. I took it to the vet for a check up. It had retained shed and they recommended using sorbeline to soften the skin to help it shed. It worked a treat so I couldn't understand why it wouldn't work in your situation. What is the humidity like.

I would only use this for a short time.

Yeah you might have to look at your humidity levels for future reference. If he is a good handler you can just use a wet towel to help with any retained shed. I just held mine with the towel and sorta let him move through it and the retained parts came off super easy

its only a baby & only had a few sheds & it all came off in his last shed cos i gave him a bath & a wipe down. do u still think its a retained shed?

If it all came off last shed then it's not retained shed. It may just be that the humidity is too low. Do you have something to measure what level it sits at?

First you have to have no life and sit on here all day. Then when DECCW (or whatever they are called now) posts a ballot you put your name down :p

i dont have anything 2 measure it with. but i have 2 hatchies (the one we r talking about & another) in 2 clickclaks in a bigger enclousre & ive used it in the same way with others in earlier years & ive never came across this. i give him a qucik bath once a week has i dont want another bad shed.

Well you sort of need to be lucky when/time you look on the site. The deccw post a reptile ballot saying that they have reps that they are giving away. Normally as they are confiscated from people without licenses. What normally happen is people register and then very few people post on the thread until the registration date is closed. This betters there chances.

Sax don't be jealous that I won a diamond. Lol

hay melly , i use that mist stuff on mine the day i see their eyes change , afew sprays an then leave them to do theyre thing , Theyre always really glossy and have never had any probs shedding ...

torah - yeah got the mist stuff we will have to wait to see what this next shed brings.

longgi - yeah he has a water bowl he can play in & i get him out 4 a bath every now & then.
