I've noticed that all of the coloured beardies available in Australia and even overseas seem to be P. vitticeps. Is there anyone working on a line of coloured P. barbata? I know that generally barbata tend to be a dull grey colour but I have seen the odd one that has some colour too.

they seem to be pretty much dark grey/brown.. unfortunately

they're not as popular as the vitticeps, so there isnt much need or demand for colours if any... good luck tho..

p. viticeps has colour yellow/red/brown and some lavendar side bars in the wild.. but a large majority of overseas colours (and in australia i guess) are made by inbreedign certain colours.. and theyre not exsactly natural..

heres were inbreeding goes horribly wrong, for the dragons but will bring in profit for diachu.. unfortunately inbreeding has been taken to its limits here..

Alot of those are ugly. I'm quite content with my grey-yellowy beardie. Some of thoese red and orange ones are hideous. Natural all the way!

OMG! some of those guys look like they've been photoshoped or coloured in with the old crayolas

All I can say is wow, don't know whether it's a good thing or not though...

I saw some white hatchling barbata for sale about 4 years ago but haven't seen anything like it since. There is the odd one that has a bit of yellow or orange or even brown in it but like JasonL said, nothing like the vitticeps.

If someone did come up with some colourful barbata would they be as popular as the vitties?

I have seen Wild and Captive barbata exhibit some beautiful Red and Orange colouring, although, most or nearly all are of a dull colour, But, Like JasonL said, there are some barbata that are quite nice looking.

Here is a little Barbata female I found on Russell Island,
She was a lot more yellow before the pic, but still showing a fair bit.
The blueish scales looked great.
I also found a bright yellow one 2 blocks from home, and I have seen about 3km away some with blue colouration on the head, similar to the one in the pic.
Cheers
Adam.

I have seen a really nice redish barbata in the wild and someone on this site has some yellow ones. Does anyone have any pics of the 'white' ones? i have seen them for sale so someone must be keeping them.

IMO they are the best looking beardies.
