So I'm bidding on an enclosure and I was the first bidder and no one has bidedd only me so I hope on eBay just earlier and someone had bid I bid 50c more and as soon as the page had loaded it went up already the same amount I went up (50c I bid 75c then they do, please help am I being scammed ?

And it's been going back and forth this whole time it's now up to 23.75 and I'm not sure whether to bid or not

They have placed a higher bid than what you are currently bidding, you won't be the winning bidder unless you outbid them, your not being scammed, that's how the biding process is, so when you are increasing your bid by 50c and they are still winning, you need to place a bid that is bigger than the highest bid amount they have placed, which you won't know until you bid more than that number. Hope this makes sense :)

It's not a scam, you just haven't reached there max bid yet.

It's called autobid. You enter a your highest bid and the software will increase the bidding up to it for you

Thanks but, when I place a bid it asks me to bid say $22.50 or higher so I bid $25 and press confirm bid and instantly it says rebid and says they have bid 25.50 it's really getting on my nerves as I was gunna pick it up tomorrow then go grab my new bredli hatchling :(

So should I keep bidding till it stops?

If the other person had entered $100 as their max bid and you enter $75, the autobid kicks in for them and bids higher than you by 50c (generally). You need to go higher than the autobid which is generally your max amount.

so in answer to your question, yes, bid until you are the highest bidder or bid your max amount that you want to spend.

Put in the maximum you want to pay... If the other person bidding is prepared to pay more you wil know straight away. That's how eBay works. Makes it so you don't need to sit there watching your computer for 5 days and also so you don't pay a stupid amount above what everyone else has bid. There's no scam there mate

I wait till 20 secs before end of auction and then place my max bid

Ok thank you thought the seller might have done something to get more money out of me

they use ebay auctionsniper to beat yr bidding lol I used to do this and u can see what the max the person bid on and don't forget ebay owns PayPal and auctionsniper and others u wouldn't even know its all capitalism so it all big game u win or lose

Bidsniper... An app that does it for you, you can set to 3 seconds. You don't need to watch and hope your connection that hasn't failed for 5 years decides to at that exact point. Has come in handy on more than one occasion...

Hang on. Why am I sharing this... I may be in a bidding war with you all!

scam pfft its a full blown government conspiracy mate , get your foil hats everyone ;)

Wow chit chat threads always make me laugh (only occasionally cry lol) its always makes me wonder about people on ebay buyers & sellers.

How old are you? Your user name suggests that your 16 or 17, maybe research a little more before using ebay

Yer 16 mate, and I never really use eBay my parents just asked me to bid again if anybody bids, and wasn't sure if the seller had done something to get more money out of me so I thought Id ask people on the forum who may/may not have an idea about what's going on and got the answer I was looking for. :)

Have you asked the seller if you can pick it up tomorrow if you win? Some won't do mid week pick ups, best to ask before you bid.

Oh, just a thought, a hatchy will only need a click clack for the next 6 months, so no need to rush into buying an enclosure. Most people do a test run on their enclosures for a few days to get the temps right (took me 4 days with trying different globes etc)

Hey Guys, *First Post
So how ebay works is when you place a bid it gives you the option to put in a maxbid where it will autobid for you until it reaches your max bid.

Charlie

Well I was a bit ahead of myself when I said hatchling it was born march last year
