Sure is, bad luck but it happens. Found two eggs which were lost while digging around in my sand earlier on at the start of the year, was late by a couple of days, bit of a shame.

Can't say i've done tests :p but I'd think the time would have a few factors such as the dampness/heat of the soil etc. But at a guess I would say 2/3 days max? Maybe less if the sand is a bit drier. Someone else might have a better idea on here, would be quite handy to know.

..so levis eggs die after a few days unless people incubate them?

Whaaat?

How long do the eggs last for before they are no good ?

They will stay fine as long as conditions suit, ie warmth and humidity, if these are right, they will hatch in the enclosure, though not too many enclosures would be set up the right way to achieve this, so they need to be taken out. Without humidity the eggs will dry out, possibly within a few hours if layed in a hotter area of the enclosure, and crickets will also eat the eggs if they can get to them.
