Electricity Bill anyone ?

I use TRUenergy (formally TXU). I was paying a flat rate of $115 per month which covered gas and electricity. After my first year, I actually got a rebate as my usage was not as much as I was paying.

In my second year however, (the year I started keeping herps), they have asked me to start paying $160 p/m as I was using more than I was paying. I currently owe over $300 which decreases every month with the extra I am now paying. We use the central heating a bit but It must be my small reptile collection that is pumping it up a little. I would hate to see a large reptile setups costs.

can you tell us more about the methods of heating you use, a couple of hundred bucks extra through winter is pretty good for heating up to 200 animals!
would be interested in learning more about that.

You should have seen some of the heating bills we had in Canada. You cannot even turn off the heating when you are not home because if you do the pipes freeze and burst etc.

For those with really excessive bills there is probably some value in investigating insulation options, either at the individual enclosure or room level.

I kept herps on the sunshine coast for 15 odd years,( and some of them were really odd), and my method works amazingly there.
afro,- no dont sell them, use them for incubators or sledgehammer them. ( I heard thru the grape vine hix and boa smashed all theres, they must of seen the light )
