Hi All
I have a problem with my snake enclosures since moving them into the garage and the weather starting to warm up,I have my hot end temp at 31.5c and nornaly the cool end is around 25 to 26c,I have had to move it all into the garage and the last few weeks we have had a few warmer days about 24 to 25c and my cool end is already up to 28.5c so i am worried what it will get to when summer comes Perth temps 35 to 40c.
The garage is 9mt x 7mtr single brick tile roof lined with sealing double garage door at front and single at rear under patio can any please help with ideas to help keep cool when summer comes or am i worry about nothing.
I have added picture of enclosure and it has a dimming thermostat Habistat.

More vents in the enclosure? More ventilation in your garage? Insulate your garage?:)

Move your enclosure further away from the back wall to create more airflow??

Where is now is on the inside wall of the garage which is the house wall and double brick all has insulation and 2 whirly birds ducted into the garage,it has rather large vents in it now and is about 90cm off wall,i have seen other peoples posts of there collections in tin garages and in hot areas so there must be something else i think.

Some people freeze a bottle of water and wrap it in a towel to give the snake something cool.

Depends on the layout whether you can do it, but a cheap wall air conditioner is worth next to nothing, and if you get a small one it will be fairly quiet and 10amp so you can install it yourself and plug it into a normal powerpoint.

Simplest way to lower ambient temps is to create airflow..

If your really concerned a sparky can install a small thermo fan that circulates air once the

temp reaches what you pre set it at?? Havent heard of anything else sorry.

Someone should have a few other ideas...

Habistat do a 'cool control' reverse thermostat and there is also a fan/cooling thermostat (like the THAT040 thermostat) that you can plug a fan into. What about an evaporative cooler?

The habistats sound good... havent seen them yet, will check them out..:D

You could also get a lower wattage globe that has a lower output of heat. If you have a thermostat already, then there shouldn't be a problem anyway.

If your cool end is getting to around 29C (which I assume is ambient temperature and isn't affected by the heating), then you could set the thermostat to around 28C, so that the hot end is around 28C and the basking spot itself is 33C or so (which is good). To cool the cool side down, you could install another vent on that side of the enclosure, so that there is more ventilation in that side. That's what I plan to do when I move all my enclosures to the garage.

what is the hottest the cool end should get i have Stimsons and Western Carpet,i am going to place another big vent ontop of the top enclosures on the cool side.

As far as fans are concerned whatever the ambient temps air then all a fan will do is move the air,not cool it.As far as I know snakes don't perspire so moving air will have no effect on cooling them.At least thats my take on it.

Ambient temperature or lower. So, if it's in the garage, and the garage gets to 25C, have the hot end at 32C and the cool end at 25C or lower, if you can get it lower.

Are the stimsons and western carpet in the same enclosure?

install an air conditioner in your garage, that will lower the ambient temperature. you could set the air con temp to 25deg, that will maintain your cool end temp.

No my snakes are in seperate enclosures i have seen post of tin garages with many enclosure they must have AC

I normally check the weather forcasts for the day and if the temp is expected to get over 32oC, I simply turn off all the heating and let them ride it out. It saves money on the power bill and minisises the risk of overheating those snakes would easily be able to ride it out without the extra heat from the globes.

i was looking at the AC idea last night and i have a problem, front of garage is all door, and rear is half door and a bar the other side of what there is of wall, out side wall is on bountry so the AC on the outside would be in next doors yard ,and the other wall is also our lounge so it looks like ac is out,we do have ducted evaprotive so i may have to try and add a duct or 2
