Feeding Green Tree Snakes??

ackie, do yourself a favour and keep your comments generalised. "YES I HAVE". With time, like other herps, you can in a lot of instances wein them onto forms of food. It always amazes me how some people can be so closed off to everyone else experinces just because theirs may not have. All are different, You can have snakes from the same clucth all turn out to have different temprements and eating habits.

Cwarren: How about you just chill man, ackie is one of the most experienced keepers here.... He didnt say ever that you were wrong in your experiences, just that GTS are usually fussy, perhaps you should read the post better next time....just a thought!
Back on topic The place where I volunteer has a pair of GTS and for 5 years nothing worked at all and they had to be forced fed every week for those 5 years, then, one day both of them just ate!!! weird...

I have spoke to few ppl tha have GTS's and they have told me their pateints had run thin but you must keep on trying.
I know you said Adam that one of your GTS had died from spitting a fish back up but i asked these guys aswell and said they have had no prob's wit fish at all.
It may of been just one of those things out of your control and just oure bad luck.
Also a few have said they have had no luck at all weining them onto pinkies,just fish eaters.
Anyho keep trying mate GTS might take something someday.

Thanx heaps everyone I have tried gamboozies as I had Barramundi for a year or so and had to catch them out of a local pond I don't think it is the size of the fish but more the fact that this one simply doesn't want fish. As soon as I offer her a garden skink or a foot long water skink she eat it as soon as it is in the tank. Frogs don't last very long when she is around either. Mozzie fish are quite legal here in N.S.W but it does not seem to matter what size the fish is she hunts it but won't attack it. I will buy a finch and leave it in there for a week but at the moment I will try adullthud's idea's as they seem to make the most sense. EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE ALL HELPED. I THANK YOU ALL.

Dude don't leave the finch in there. Too big of a risk for such a nice snake.

Feeding what???? I don't know what they are called as I don't like lizards but I do need to feed the gts and she loves anything that she would get in the wild. Rats,mice, all the norm for my other snakes,she won't even look at, so it's lizards or starve. What is a eulamphrous quoyi anyway? Why are you distressed? It's better than watching her go hungry isn't it?

Yeah they are a spectacular snake to watch. I do enjoy her but the feeding is a little bother,just wish they would eat mice or rats like most normal snakes. Makes up for it with her beuaty.

actually i just remembered a technique that i used. Although i didnt end up being able to wean her onto mice completely it was good to know she was eating the odd mouse. OK...next time u feed ur gts a water skink have a dead/defrosted mouse read. As the last part of the tail is going into its mouth, try sitting the mouses head in the front of her mouth and she should just eat the mouse thinking it is part of the lizard. Once u have got the hang of this technique u should try just feeding bits of the tail to ur snake then the mouse. Over time just make the pieces smaller until almost none is needed. Although this trick didnt work perfectly for me, i no ppl who have been succesful by using this trick...anyway, goodluck.

I think it was the Eastern water skink(Eulamprus quoyii).

I was thinking of buying her a few small ones but they were 15 bucks each. I think she would love them!!!
