I was wondering what peoples opinions are, on feeding rats or mice that have died of something other then a freezer to there pythons.

For eg. I had a rat die about a week ago which I found pretty much straight away and chucked in the freezer. would you feed that to your pythons?

Depends what it died from i suppose. If you were going to feed it it would make sure it was frozen for a few months at least to kill off whatever it died from.

As a rule though i wouldnt, better to be safe than sorry.

Cheers Alex

It is a bad idea, too much risk IMO. Better keeping fresh killed frozen rats you know were healthy when they were killed.

Have you heard about the Abola virus that hit the Congo recently?
It was caused by a local villager that found a dead monkey in the forest.
He thought jackpot!!!!! and took it home to eat.

Approx 2 weeks later his bodily tissue turned to fluid and he bled to death from every orifice.

I think not!

Sorry everyone if your eating dinner.

Sorry I posted this in the wrong forum before.
I hate that when your not already logged in and you loose your spot.

I agree with everyone. Even if I see a rat or mouse that looks a bit under the weather in my colony its killed and thrown. Can never to be carefull with food.

Rob
