what would you guys class as the right amont to feed a 5 month old coastal
and what would be better mice or rats and what size thnks

i think up to 12 months you can just feed when ever they will eat but thats just my opinion lots of people will differ and with size iv been told to feed it something the width of the thickest point of the snakes body or enough to see the bulg...

We feed all our snakes once a week on a saturday to be precise, the size of the food we go by the width of the snake so you see a slight bulge but not a big bulge.

younger then a year i recommend a feed once a week then as they grow you reduce it, 10-14 days or so and then for your larger pythons once every couple of months unless you are trying to build weight up. rule of thumb for feed size is something that will leave a visible lump. so about twice the width of the snakes head.

i would get it onto rats asap if it is eating mice.i bought my wife a 6 month old diamond yesterday and she fed him on a small fuzzie rat and left a nice lump in his belly
