Well from what I've read they don't...

But then I've also read female GTF's call when it rains (and as it is winter where I live that might be a problem!).

I have also heard some mumbo jumbo stuff about their vocals that said they are incapable of calling.

So, do female GTF's call or do they not?

Because I am really really into getting some frogs but haven't been aloud to because my parents are afraid they'll keep the house up. If I get females is there a chance they'll keep us up? Or do you think they won't disturb anyone?

Any answers are appreciated!
Cheers :p

It's my understanding they don't call; but someone may suggest otherwise. What I can say is that my females have never called so I doubt they'll keep you up!!

Well I def hope so!! So far that is the overall impression I got but I'm still not sure. *fingers crossed!!*

Thanks for the reply... :)

So, do female GTF's call or do they not?

I read in a book (of an author whom I "trust" a lot) that both sexes can call!

But I've never heard my two females calling and I keep them for many years!

So I would say that they don't keep you up or disturb you! ;)

Well thanks for the answers everyone! I will take my chances in getting some older froggies so they can be sexed more accurately. Right now that is my only concern - that we somehow end up with males instead!

I am conifdent though that they won't cause enough noise to bother anyone.

Thanks! :D

From what I know, female GTFs croak when theyre stressed. When I first got mine they craoked a bit, but as soon as they settled they havent croaked since.

They can cry and scream when they are distressed (ie. when an animal catches them!)
But they will not do the repetitive call that a male will, the male of most species has a vocal sac.

Thanks arielle and meshe! That's a relief - and I did expect they would still 'cry' when they were in distress.
