I agree, bounties are a good thing, if controlled properly.
Feral Cats and Cane Toads would have to be 2 of the biggest disasters in this country wouldnt they.
Of course foxes and rabbits fall inot this categry also.
A bounty on cats would have John Woomsley jumping for joy wouldnt it.

There would be no shooting in the streets. Its illegal and is a part of the fire arms licencing, so that wouldnt even be an issue. Just because there is a bounty on cats doesnt mean every other law gets disregarded.
Can you belive the RSPCA saying its cruelty to animals? idiots.
I have met John Wharton the mayor of richmond before, he is very keen and interested in wildlife, and snakes as well. He was very interested when I told him about my snake hobby. This kind of thing should be more wide spread. of cause cruelty has to be addressed, but there are always going to be wankers that kill animals cruely and they are going to do it regasrdless of a bounty.
I dont think most people realise how big of a problem cats are in areas like richmond. There is still so many small native mammals and other wildlife in areas like this that havent been made extinct yet. If no one gets off there ass to do something about it, remote areas like this will end up as wildlife free as southern australia. It might be contraversial to all those suburban RSPCA members and the general urban community, but no one else is doing much about anything are they. It might not be all nice and sweet and by gosh, killing any animal isnt nice, but poeple need to wake up and relise something needs to be done.

not true bryony, i've seen cats collected even a little older then this and homed, they turn out to be awesome animals, just takes time.

i have had adult ferral cats and they were easy to tame out of and became friendly enough to rehome but some of the kittens that i have encountered have been so ferral you couldn't go near them even though they were so small

looks were decieving and i got malled 10 times over but a cute bundle of "joy"

some have hope for new homes but some just don't no matter how much time you spend with them

There is a law in some councils <mine> that it is against council regulation for cats <feral OR pet> to be on other people's property at all. So if your council has this rule and you trap any cat on your own property that does not belong there, it can be taken to the pound and the owner will be fined, if it happens too regularly it will possibly put to sleep.
Added incentive for cat owners to keep their pets in, or restict to their own property.

True story Bryony, it depends on the individual cat/kitten.

it sure does
everyone of them is different

You should see these feral kittens that live on the beach in Townsville. They are completely mental and live on scraps and things that get washed up on the beach. No one can catch the bloody things because they hide in the rocks and are completely psycho.

What's the diference between a feral cat and a domestic cat that is off it's owners property?
Nothing!
I have a RIGHT to live in my house and on my land without cats crapping in my garden, in my sons sandpit,
chasing birds, eating skinks, eating my bloody guinea pigs!
I say this and I mean it; if you let your cat out at all then you have no right to complain when you think someone has infringed your rights.
You are doing the same to other people every day.

I have NEVER EVER allowed my cats to go out side!!!!!! They don't know the difference, and they have a whole room to themselves to sunbake in.
Where I lived when i was growing up, you would go out late at night with a torch, and wait, you'ld se the biggest bloody feral cats!!!!!!

Some like meduim sized dogs!!!!!! And Vicious as all hell!!!!!!!!! Dad cornered one in the shed, and had to get stitches for his face........15stitches!!!!

I like the idea some old guy had...........shoot 'em and make boots, jackets, hats.....................soft and thick fur!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mmmmmmmmm,
soft thick fur.............................

I agree Maggles, 100%.
I have had rehabilitating Wires birds in MY aviary in MY backyard being harrassed by cats <very stressful!>. Which is how I found out about the council rule.

I have NEVER EVER allowed my cats to go out side!!!!!

Good stuff. Neither have I with my cat. He is happy indoors and in the cat run I built for him. I also take him walking on a cat leash if he so desires.
If you have had to rehabilitate a baby bandicoot or king parrot that has been literally ripped apart by a cat, or if you have had a baby ringtail possum die painfully in your arms from the toxicity due to cat attack, you would keep your cat indoors too.

Point in case..................... at christmas, my dad's cat (which had access to one of those stupid cat flaps, so it can
come and go as it likes) caught a large king brown (?) and had to spend the next week at the vets!!!!! If the cat had been kept inside, no huge anti-
venom vet bill or dead snake!!!!!

Then, two months after they bring it home, the brainless people then let the cat out .................................. you can guess the rest!!!!
Well, on the bright side, the neighbourhood is now cat free, and the rat rpoblem from next doors chooks are no longer a problem!!!!

If I ever see a cat on my block....it will die, I dont care if it is a much loved pet or not...It will be killed. I am sick of cats destroying wildlife. The only taipan (very VERY rare here) I have seen up here was killed by cat. I have seen so many innocent animals be killed by them.

Anyone who lets their cat outside un-supervised, is irresponsible, and should be keeping pet rocks!
