I've heard a seen a few reports that red eared sliders are loose in Sydney waterways is that for real or what?

So were they once legally sold? I live near canberra and I've never even heard of them being around. You would think if they are going to be the next cane toad then they should put out an advertising campaign telling everyone what they look like and to catch em and give them to NPWS. That would be the smart thing one would imagine, instead of stealing law abiding herpers chondro's........Yes?

Yeah, Trouser. They've been living in some of Sydney's rivers for many years, in relatively small numbers.
