Mel, you're going to have to keep your arm in a sling all the time, to life that weight!

I asume that must be a common saying, as my Nan said exactly the same thing! Come to think of it... my wrist sure is aching...

I've done a bit of research since (funny thing that, eh?! ), and the colour scale starts at 'D' and goes through to 'Z'. Mine is an F :D The jeweller said that cut is most important, followed by colour, clarity and carat.

Needless to say, I'm feeling pretty special. Unfortunately, the families have started wedding pressure already (i.e., "you have to invite this person and this person", "you have to have things done in this time frame" etc, etc). We're planning something that is...well... somewhat less than conventional. So far, I don't think the plan is going to 'fly' too well. Only time will tell.

you know, i feel that this is one day that is YOUR day and you should be able to stamp your foot and say "I want it THIS way!" lol. of course its up to you and how your family would react etc etc but i know what i'd be doing/saying  lol

you could always elope

Nobody in my family knew I was getting married until the day after we did it :) Very peaceful time it was :) Until afterwards that is LOL :)

I must confess having thought about doing that... which is sad given the short time we've been engaged.

I want to share the day with my loved ones... but I want them to just be happy, and accept and understand that they've either had their day, or are yet to have their day, and that this will be our day. Funny how people seem to think they have a stake in other people's weddings.

Most brides and grooms seem to be semi looking forward to their wedding day, but mostly dreading it. I don't want ours to be like that. I want it to be a real celebration, in a happy environment, with a serious touch of 'non-conformity'

We'll have to see how it goes. Who knows... I may be so over it in a few months that we run away to Namibia and get married at a Leopard Ranch.

...does that include your wife Phil...maybe a reason it didn't go so well? :)
