Bob, I was actually telling Pete about that this afternoon. I'm normally pretty on to it, no face/body shots. Thanks for the advice.

Results of the afternoon expidition - 1 unidentified scorpion. Of the 2 species that occur in Brisbane, it doesn't resemble either. Think it was a bit cold for anything to be on the move. Try again next week.

Caught Mulgas at St George. Thats definatley west of Brisbane.

The guy we know who got tagged was bitten in Boonah, which is about an hour or so west of Brisbane.

hey huggy your on a thin line there mate... lol i dont give a sh-it but some people may.
If they get upset over that ricko then it really is a sad world we live in. :(

Bad luck on the herping sxe and lib, better luck next time.

Mulgas might be found very rarely in SW QLD, but they are mostly found west of goondiwindi and a line drawn north of goondiwindi. They are very common in this area and are the most common seen elapid around st george, roma, dirranbandi, moonie etc. From my experience living in this area its pretty much west of the ranges in the flat drier county/ mulga scrub/ red soil plains. Even then they arnt as evenly distributed as say eastern/western browns. more patchy. Even living in NSW most of my life I have only seen them around West Wylong and further west, there is some great mulga/lignum plains around the river systems where that are very common in that area, which also happens to be around the same distace inland as Goondiwndi/ st george, about 350-400km or so.

just what i know!

Found a yellow faced whip snake at work (Cleveland, Brisbane) yesterday, just in the flower garden.. were a few their last season as well. Also nearly run over a Koala with a baby on its back on the way home, it made it across to the scrub tho...

There seems to be ALOT of yellow faced whip snakes, keelbacks and carpets around the cleveland and surrounding areas, even tho its pretty built up, with scattered bushland. Talking to people at work they see them in backyards almost on a weekly basis, and on the roads on the short trips to work.
