First snake, need help please

Screw it into the ceiling surrounded the bulb.

Brilliant thanks can I get an exact size to just over this bulb so I don't waste any space, I plan on adding some branches that go up to a basking spot and would like to save some space, also thanks so much for all the help I'm really glad you can all support me

Depends on what (watt) type of bulb you have.

you can get light cages in all different sizes but you MUST have 1 because your snake will get burnt otherwise (they aren't real smart) yes put a branch at an angle that goes up near but not too close to the light,maybe 30cm.
Put up a pic of your snake and we will try to identify it for you
