Hi everyone,
I have just got my first childrens python. He is only a baby and eating fuzzies. I havnt had him out of his tank yet and was going to but he seems quite scared and strikes at me. I have held so many snakes but have never been biten. i know once i do i wont be stressed by it but its the fastness of the strike im scared of.. lol.. is there something i can do to calm him so he wont bite me? i picked him up on wednesday and fed him that night. is it too early to start handling him?? Any info is mch appreciated :)

Regular handling will be the best thing for him if you want him to grow into a calm adult... besides, a baby childrens bite will be nothing :)

let him bite you he wont even brake the skin if he is tiny, it will make you feel better if your worried it will hurt wear some gloves!! but id be getting him out now and handling him as much as you can (but wait atleast 3 days after feeding) :)
just have fun with him youll be fine.

hey mate years ago i use to have a phycodic little spotted python as my first snake always smashed me struck at anything he saw move past the enclosure, i had no idea then how much it would hurt so i put my hand in the enclosure n turned around and waited til i felt somthing i felt this tiny little tap and saw the slightest red dot felt like someone lightly tapped me with a finger nail lol after that i was fine he use to smash me everytime i had him out but he eventully meloded out with lots of handling :) get bitten mate and the fear will be gone i sometimes find it amuzing when i get new hatchies and they strick at every little movement and shadow
