Hi guys, I had my Stimson out for a play yesterday and I noticed scales on my hand. I looked at her belly and could see scales coming off. She is 14 months old and last shed on 3/12/12. I fed her last night and she took the food with no problems ( she has just gone from Fuzzie Mice to Fuzzie Rats). Should I be concerned?

do you mean the skin on the outside is coming off like a shed or the entire scale ? pics would help alot if the whole scales are coming off then it could be a number of things so pics are needed for people to be certain

i remember longqi (spelling) mentioning a snake he rescued that had been kept in a bag in the bali heat , i remember him saying that the scales where coming off as it slithered through his hands i think it was dehydration in that case

but yes if the entire scale is coming off i would be concerned

Thanks guys for answering so quickly. Thomassssssss, it is the outside coming off like a shed. I did take her out about 3 weeks ago for 3 hours in the heat and when I put her back in her enclosure she went straight for the water. Could this have caused the flaking?

not sure but if its only the outer skin flaking off then i wouldn't be concerned myself , if it was really bad or happening alot then maybe look at husbandry a little closer but a bit of skin here and there i wouldn't freak over it , if it had of been the actual scale though then it would be cause for concern
