Food change?

G'day all.

Monty, my BHP now over a year old. I'm feeding him a small rat once a week. My question is, how do I know when to change up to the next size, and when to extend the interval to once a fortnight. I know every snake is different, so you can't go by age, but is there any indication as to when to move to the next level?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I always used to weigh mine; put them in a pillow case or drawstring bag and then feed 15-20% of their body weight. Some people will go by when the snakes defecates after their meal and feed again soon after that. I was doing that with my adult MD and it seemed to work well.
