My gorgeous Zephyr (also known as Zephyrous, Girl, Baby and Fat Snake) turned four months old last Wednesday. As of Sunday she's been in my life for two of those months. While she isn't actually fat, she's grown wider – hence the nickname "Fat Snake" – and quite a bit longer. I think she's somewhere between 40 to 45 centimetres in length.

She's had one shed since I got her and is due for another any time now. We've discovered that she loves hides made out of medicine boxes and corrugated cardboard. She refused to use a basking tile but I cannot get her off the flat rocks I popped into her click-clack instead.

I've started her on velvet mice, giving her a small pinky and a velvet as a treat on the eve of her birthday. She loves her food - another reason she's called Fat Snake - propelling herself out of her click-clack before I can get organised enough to grip the mouse in the tongs.

I took some photos of her on the weekend. The very first photo is an old one, taken on 6 March, which I've included to show how much bigger she is six weeks later. The rest of the photos are highlights from the recent photo shoot. You can see more in the photo albums Zephyr at four months old and Zephyr’s meal.

Does that last picture remind anyone else of rocky road?

Very nice Stimmie, they're my favourite of the Antaresia group. She has very nice eyes and looks like she's growing well.

Gorgeous little snake!

My two stimmies are also the same age and are also little fat snakes lol. They are eating machines!

Thanks all. She's one of Beeman's wheatbelts.

Jay, even after the pinky and velvet mouse, she still looked like she wanted more. She's a guts.

She is gorgeous.....you obssesed much, apple of your eye?me thinks so.very nice markings on her, very nice. What sized click-clack have you got her in?

Yes, I'm obsessed. Not only is she a pretty snake, she's also placid and confident, by which I mean she's never acted scared of me. This is is great because I never wanted to frighten the little creature. She's in a 7-litre Sistema, which is about 30x20x10cm.

Nice wheatie, someone got a bit too excited with the soldering iron it seems :p

These littel wheatbelts are the next snake on my list....love the colours they are really a lovely snake

I'm constantly amazed by how placid and fearless she is. She's discovered sleeves are fun - last night when I was spot cleaning she slipped up my left sleeve and spent ten minutes circling my arm. It was very tickly. :)

It seemed like a good idea in the middle of summer. :)
