Shot placement is over rated. Just need a big old splatter round in a giant caliber.

Ya. I don't like poisons. Pest controll IMO should be in the form of trapping and a quick Euth or shooting (providing the shooter has reliable bullet placement). The hills around here are literally laced with 1080 and warfarin (sp) to knock out dogs, foxes, pigs and cats.

The first pic is posted in this thread is a prime example of that :) .270 into the chest from about 80m away. If it was a head shot though, there'd be no head.

seems that me and a mate are going to have to pul an all nighter on the weekend to hunt it down. going to be a hard shoot not to hit any of the trees when we try to get it.

Spelling correct. Warfarin is(was) the main ingredient in both rat sack and grandmas heart pills. While I agree that Pest control SHOULD not use poisons unfortunately some times it is the only way to go.

Hang a dead chook about 2 meters off the ground near your chook pen and where you can get a good line. Foxes go nuts if they can't quite reach something they know is tasty. Properly a good idea to inform your neighbours too before letting a gun off at night

if you need a hand to hunt, i go out all the time with a mate he is a really good shooter :) and were not that far away really near ararat.. pm me if you want a hand

Foxes..Just spot & shoot! As Jay mentioned you know if you find a den because it smells really bad. I do alot of fox culling each winter. Tried trapping but its not very effective, & then you still have to deal with the fox once its trapped. For in experienced people I would not recommend this. Find a relative, freind or ask your local gun shop if they know anyone who would be willing to help out. (there are alot of people searching for something to kill! lol...)

dont need to worry about informing the neighbours because i was planning on using the 60lbs compound bows we have with some hunting tips they came with. With a well placed shoot they should be a quick death with the hunting tips we have to use.
thanks for the offer the_tzr but i live up in the queensland maryborough, so it would be a pretty long trip to take for one fox.

lol i think i need to get out of town more :) hahaha..
on another note, we have fox traps and cat traps set up, for sum reason we catch more foxes in the cat trap than the fox trap. witch is odd cause they dont like cramp spaces and they cant even turn in the cat trap lol

well atleast you are catching them in traps, i have never had that luck yet.

i guess because they havnt been able to learn from what introductions have done in the past. it can not end well at all.
