Hey guys!

I just wanted to know if there are any tell-tale signs with the egg that marbled geckos are about to hatch? Mine should be hatching quite soon!:D:D

Jess

Yes...a gecko starts coming out.

Sorry, I couldn't resist..lol

Keep us updated and would love to see some pics of the new bubs.

lol...Can't you tell that I'm bored?

So, have you taken the eggs away from the mother and put them in an incubator? I've only just started keeping geckos and I have 2 females and a male and they are all in the same enclosure. I have no idea what to do with eggs if they suddenly appeared but the lady who sold them to me, said to just leave them in with the parents and let nature take it's course. Not sure if this is right or not?

froggie: the eggs will usually look very moist right before they are about to hatch (but i think this is only for the hour or two before they do hatch). the only way to tell is it usually takes about 60-80days at 28*C. but it can take only 50 or over 100 days for them to hatch. you just have to be patient :).
jewly: it is highly recommended that in captivity you remove the eggs from the enclosure and put them in an incubator because then the mother can focus on regaining the weight that she lost when she laid the eggs. also for the 'let nature take it's course' comment firstly you always have to remember that you enclosure is not the same as nature. it may be a very close representation but they will always be differences e.g your heat light/mat/cord might break but the sun isnt going to break any time soon :).

Very good point. I might have to do some research so I know what to do when/if eggs do appear.
