A big hello to everyone here :) I am new to these boards and new to the world of all things herp-related.

I've have wanted to keep and care for some scalies for quite some time now and I was very read-up about it all a few years back (I need some refreshers). I am applying for my Recreational Wildlife License online in a few days and I'm trying to become as informed as I can so I don't dive head-first into something I'm not prepared for. I have a few questions for you all, particularly for any fellow Gladstonites and people from surround areas.

-Where did you get your darlings?
-Where did you buy the enclosures and equipment?
-Are the local pet stores reliable? (Port City Pet World, Zoo, Gladstone Pets and Ponds, Rocky Pet World, etc.)
-Can you point me in the direction of any reliable (and legal!) reptile suppliers or breeders in Gladstone, Bundaberg, or Rockhamton?

I am really not sure what kind of reptile I am prepared to care for just yet. I remember running around as a little tot and catching beardies and watching them with facination and adoration (I never kept them, of course). I am also keen on snakes but they don't seem as readily available around here

Which reptiles are most suited to regular handling, aren't overly flighty and are forgiving of newbie mistakes?
I am reading up as much as I can but I would really like to hear whatever advice anyone can give me.

Many thanks,
-Parker
