Hey guys,

I'm going to get a snake soon but have a few questions. I am deciding between either a spotted or stimsons python. I know both are very similar in personalities but the spotted is larger. Just wanting any preferences or other suggestions.
Also feel free to give me your best tips on caring for the breed. Please and thanks.

Also what should I call him/her?

Thanks :)

Hey mate, i don't keep either of these snakes but i like the look of stimson and there pretty small and wouldn't take up much space.
I would recommend getting it as a hatchling so you can get use to it and it can get use to you.
If you do so it can be housed in a click-clack for the first 8 months of its life depending on how fast it grows a stimpson could be keeped in a tub for its whole life if wanted to but since its your first snake you would probably want to have it in a nice enclosure so you can see it and other friends and fam can see it too :) if any other questions i would be happy to help try answer them :)

Caleb.

Stimmies are generally prettier and calmer. Spotties are just cooler :p

Found this with a very quick search on google
Antaresia - children's python, spotted python, pythons of Australia

Also get yourself
Keeping Childrens Pythons Book - Aquarium and reptile online shop in Melbourne. Specialise in Baby Turtles, Lizards, Frogs and Pythons also for sale!

Both have some very nice tips and information on the species.

Great websites, thanks. any reason for spotties being cooler?

Thanks. I would definitely be getting him from a hatchling. And yeah I'd probably go with a stimmie. Nice small snake for a beginner. :)

Yeah theres lots of different ones to choose from to, check out snake ranch they should have all different photos of different stimmies on there they also sell them to

I like them more because my first snake was a spotted, they've got an awesome rainbow sheen in the sun, they're feisty (sometimes) and I don't really like the morphs you get with stimmes (morphs or locales)? Platinum spotteds and very very dark spotteds are so so pretty :)
