egg nog is that some sort of alcoholic custard? can u buy that from stores or do you have to make it?

I've never had it....I would love to try it though!
Try googling a few recipes. But I'm sure some home-American recipes could top anything off of google!

cool may just try to make the alcoholic version GOOGLE AWAAAY!

I haven't had eggog for years would love the recipe if anyone has it.

I gotta agree! It's awesome! Laced with a stack of Brandy and whoa-baby!!

I had a ripper Bloody Mary made by a family we spent time with in New Jersey. It was a complete meal! :) :p

Egg Nog (alcoholic)
12 large eggs – separated
1.5ltr whole milk
600mls heavy or whipping cream
1.5 cups castor sugar
500mls bourbon
200mls brandy (or all bourbon if you like)
1tsp ground nutmeg.

Method

Beat yolks and sugar together until pale and thick.
Add alcohol slowly while still beating. Refridgerate this mixture for 6 hours (or overnight)
Stir in milk and nutmeg.
Beat eggwhites until stiff – fold into previous mix.
Whip cream until it forms peaks and stir through mix.

Store in washed out milk containers or serve straight away.

I had a really good recipe that I made last year. It tasted fantastic! Have been trying to track it down but I can't seem to find it - hopefully it's on a usb somewhere.
If I do manage to find it in the next few days, then I'll post it here :)

YUM! Going to try it out.....no alcohole for me though!

Sharky... if you don't drink alcohol but want the 'flavour' you can add alcohol flavour essence a few drops at a time until it's right

Nathyrich.... I recently bought some Bacardi Oakheart (spiced rum) and am tossing around the idea of making a small batch with that. Honey bourbon would be great I reckon.
If the Honey Bourbon very sweet maybe back off the sugar a little.

Yeah I love eggnog, but I was thinking the JD honey and it is very sweet so mabey half the sugar will be the go, think Il whip some up on Xmas eve. I've read that spiced rum goes well never tried it though.

I'm moving early new year to queensland, and I may have volunteered to make alcoholic egg nog for work mates to get rid of my alcohol. I have 1.5 l of liquor. Oops.

I've always seen eggnog at coles (3 shelves full) but never bought it might give it a try...
What does it roughly taste like ?
