I don't really know if I should put this in the "Chit chat" section, but it is related to reptiles.

Now, I would love to go to Africa and the Amazon to see the unstanding wildlife in these places. But I would love to become a snake breeder (May not end up full time, but as a hobby), If I did do this, i'd probley go when i'm between the age of 17-22, while I still have a job.

I don't have any friends or family that have knowledge of snakes and breeding, keeping ect.

When I go, if I go, I would probley go in the winter months (Australian) but I would not breed snakes that year, I would put them into hybernation. I don't know if that would be the way to go though.

What do you guys think, would it be hard to go away leaving snakes by themselves? Hopefully I can make friends with that has the knownledge for captive snake keeping, who can look after them for a month or two. I may not go to Africa and the Amazon in one whole trip, I may do it in seperate years.

Thanks for taking your time and reading this:)

If all of your snakes are adults at the point of time that you plan on going away for a month or 2, They should be fine to cool down for that period of time. At the moment my 2 adult Stimson Pythons have been cooled down for breeding.

They don't do much in the cooler months and seem to slow right down, they wont need to be fed, just basically make sure that they have water if they need it. If one of your family members could replace the water when needed they should be fine. .

Thank you, my dad should be able to put fresh water in their enclosures every second day.

Not a problem - My Stimsons's havent eaten in a couple of months now and they're still in perfect condition.

Hey Trouser be careful booking your flight, cos Qantas are apparently planning strikes round about then.

Serious? Righteo then. I hate Virgin blues flights. Wait do they take you to Africa?

Virgin Blue is a domestic flight service. There are services other than Qantas that take you to Africa, Air Mauritius for example, although that'll take you as far as Mauritius which is off the coast of Africa.
