I've had IMIT and Honeywell stats for about 10yrs and i haven't had a single one fail but i have heard of these battery ones failing a few times in the past, you don't know if you dont try and people can make that choice themselves.

If you post a product up that has a line like that in it what do you expect, mechanical stats are not unreliable simple as that.

Thanks Bex and Zo Zo.

Actually, be more precise:

trader: Judy (The cute one that does all the hard work of running the Herp Trader)

HerpTrader: Daavid (The ugly one who is the webmiester at the Herp Shop and lucky enough to be married to Judy.)

Brian: Proprieter of the Herp Shop and somebody who has forgotton more about Herps than I and many of the people who visit APS will learn in a life time. He has never posted to APS.

Trader is from HerpTrader - NOT HerpShop!

lol thanx for pointing that out bex cos i was gonna! snakes99 your post made it sound like the herp shop (aka brian barnett) was bagging animal attraction when nobody from the herp shop is or ever has been (as far as i'm aware) a member of aps!

I've used some for well over a year. Very easy to set up, the battery only powers the display and iv'e only changed them once. Just run the live wire through a 5amp fuse and then the thermostat and back to whatever you are controlling. The down side is that it should be run on a 5amp fuse so you can only control 300-400w at a time.

I make a wooden control box that contains the fuse, wiring and several switched power points and put the thermostat before it. Now I just run the thermostat from the control box to an enclosure and any other enclosure that is plugged into the control box is controlled by the one thermostat.
