Hey guys i just bought another pair of green tree pythons and the seller said the female had eggs about a month ago... Now they are with me they were breeding again this morning! I've never had this happen before but i would just like to know what are my chances of getting more eggs out of her now they have have bred? Or will there be nothing of it? Any advice will be greatly appreciated because if she is pregnant i wont take her out or hold her till shes laid the eggs.

I personally have never heard of this happening. If she did lay eggs a months ago I highly doubt she would have fully recovered from it. I would worry more about getting condition back on the animal.

I have had spotteds lay and then mate again a few months latter ( they where kept in prs) , but they never produced two lots of eggs.

Personally I would be separating them now instead of keeping them together. They've mated again, if the damage is done then it's done, but you're not doing the female any favours at the moment. In agreement with Bryce; I'd be more worried about condition if she should become gravid again.
Have you got another enclosure?

I would also be a little sceptical with regards to the information about the female laying eggs...very unusual behaviour for a female to mate postpartum. That sort of information (with regards to laying eggs) is a great sales line...

The female laid 16 eggs on 28.7., so, normally, she would be still incubating. She had 2 feeds since and need plenty more before breeding again. She has been most probably raped and the best thing to do is to separate them and get her into a regular feeding regime again. It wasn't a good idea to put them together if the first place - sometimes they stress after being in transit, they need to find some comfort in their new enclosure, etc., the last they need (both of them) is unnecessary interaction and excitement.

No Jonno, no great sales line here mate. I am incubating the eggs.

cheers

My apologies mate. You can never be too careful with the types of people that keep and breed herps...
