Hey guys recently put together this enclosure for my angle headed dragons. I know they don't need a lot of heat but I would like the tank to sit around 25-26 degrees and I'm struggling to get it above 22. I'm using a 100 watt basking globe.

any recommendations on how to heat this enclosure??

thanks in advance

Glass is a very poor insulator, and you'll be losing loads of heat through that mesh top.

All the glass enclosures I have, I've made plywood lids to replace the mesh. Paint them black and you hardly notice them.

As for the glass, try an insulating layer of foam or polystyrene. There's a product called 'abelflex' aka expansion foam. It's used in concreting and bricklaying to allow expansion and contraction where concrete slabs/panels/blocks or bricks join. You can buy this stuff in rolls and sheets of various sizes and also with adhesive backing on it. That would be a perfect way to quickly add some insulation. My local Bunnings only has 100mm rolls with the adhesive, but you can get larger adhesive rolls from concreters/bricklayers suppliers, probably even plumbing outlets.

It's probably getting to the desired temps directly under the heat bulb. Are you using that thermo I can see in the pic to gauge temps or using something more precise like an infrared gun?

The thermos in the pics is measuring humidity. Ended up gong with a heat cord taped to the glass where there are gaps in the foam stuck inside. Got the middle section up to 22, so now have a good heat gradient similar to the rainforest. Just need to install a thermostat, put everything on timers and it's done. The occupants are loving their new home and their neighbours, the painted dragons, are feeling like they missed out.
