no matter how much of a hurry I am in ...I would never not check ... it seems to appear alot on this forum ,dont get me wrong I am just as glad for her that she found her pet ,but if the pythons were more of a threat to humans ,would the security of being locked up properly increase?

Not having a shot at anyone ,but I cant understand how your snakes get out ,dont you make sure the lid is on secure and that there is NO WAY it could get out before leaving the enclosure?..........sliding doors on enclosures should always be checked ......see this is the reason why elapid keepers need to be on an advanced licence ,imagine if they put up a thread "I lost my inland taipan ,hope he turns up inside my house somewhere" .......

i've heard of a taipan being picked up on a rescue callout in near the sydney CBD ... not everyone is perfect :)

i losta coastal hatchie turned up in the vacum cleaner in the shed 7 months later.....:p

Redbelly i don't own a python (yet) so probably aren't the best person to comment but i can see what you're saying. I do read a lot of the posts on here and even in this thread there are a number of ppl that have lost their snakes, some of them never turning up

I would love to have a python but the thought of one getting out is kind of the reason why my wife won't let me have one  and reading on here it certainly sounds like it's something that can easily happen.

Glad you found yours though Emily.

i check my spotteds enclosure when closing but is it was a death adder or brown i would always check 3 times as much lol plus my room door is closed all the time so it wond go far.
