hey there everyone

ive got a male bredli about a year and a half old i bought him about 3 weeks ago he has had three happer rats in that time and he hasnt had a poo thought it was a bit strange i have a diamond the same age and she does a poo every week or there abouts
ive booked him in to see pete the vet on the gold coast to check him out but wondered if anyone had any ideas
cheers

hey yea my jungle does that sometimes ... it may be a sign of constipation ...

fill a tub with with lukewarm water (not too hot), put ur snake in there for 10mins a day, and let him swim around in the warm water .... this helps gets his system going ... when he's out give him a gentle massage under his belly for 3mins or so ...

this should help and he should poop .... my jungle did a poop 4 days after i done this ...

good luck

an 18month old bredli should be eating small/medium rats not hoppers. as for not pooing your temperature maybe low so its slow to digest its food. what is the hot spot temperature in its enclosure? double check this temperature with a good quality thermometer

are the temps ok?
put it in a warm bath not to hot tho and i bet it poops

thanks for the advise ive got the theremostat at about 27 and the hot spot gets to about 30 maybe a bit more he almost never sits under the hot spot though and the previose owner said for me to feed him hopper rats as thats waht she fed him he eats the them no worries hes about 1.1 m long and about a 50c peice thick

yea id be bumping up his food size and the temps up a little too. Give him a soak in some warm water aswell

feed him bigger u reckon r u sure i spose he is almost always sitting in the strike mode waiting for food he also comes out to play every 2 days as does my dianond he is so lazy though he just climbs up the fake trre in my lounge room and chills where as my diamond goes on an adventure

humidity helps too in these cases but dont over humidify the cage for too long .
And Do not ever feed your carpet pythons multiple food items in captivity " step up the size of the rats and dont feed until it has pooped out the previous meal.

u guys are absolute legends i put him in the bath for about 10 mins than he was hissing and wanted out bad than i picked him up walked about 5 meters than it started to oosze than i ran to the kitcjen sink lol and bam it was solid as he was hissn so load than it all came out and he is now much skiinyer lol when i picked up the solid bit i crushed it and it was like sand was it just bone

It's normal for many pythons to defecate irregularly, there was probably nothing wrong with your snake. When a snake is constipated you will notice a swelling in somewhere front of its cloaca. Even quite large obstructions will be passed eventually in many cases. But better safe than sorry sometimes, even if you get a fouled kitchen :)
