I have a beautiful 19month old coastal called princess.
I noticed today she has these greeny/browny coloured funagsy lookin patches things on her belly. it literally looks like her scales are rotting in places. i checked her mouth for mouth rot and her mouth was 100%. fine.
and they seem to be excreting a clear fluid.
ive called every vet in my area none know anything about reptiles.
what could it be??

Im in west end in brisbane, i found one abbout 20kms away in northgate. not bothered about distance at all. Anything to make sure my baby isnt in pain! How could she have gotten either? i clean her enclosure regualrly. change her bedding.humidity isnt to high.hand check her very often for things like this, it literally popped up over night.

Could be just about anything mate. But it is generally a husbandry related issue but hard to say without seeing your setup.

Has she been shedding? Anyway, won't put my speculations in, we'll wait and here what the doctor says.

I drive 140km return for my snakes. 20km is a piece of cake. Good luck with her.

got her to vet, scale rot, but her enclosure is cleaner every 2 days and water is never spilt in there. had swab taken to find out what kind exact bacteria was causing it. she was such a champ about it, doesnt even mind her baths in the disinfectant and the cream being rubbed on her belly. what a cutie :)

Scale rot can also be caused by bad shedding. Retained skin that is not removed will glue back down to your snake's fresh skin. Underneath that is great breeding ground for bacteria to set in. If left untreated bacteria can build up to a point where it can eventually kill your snake.

OH okay that make sense..cos yeah she doesnt shed well and im always having to help her shed with a cloth and in a bath. her habitat is always clean and not wet. Thank you ! could you please have a look at my other post. i have some more concerns about her. and you seem to know your stuff!
