Hi all,

Just doing a bit of maintenance today in the Boyds enclosure and happened to find 7 eggs in 2 seperate clutches....4 & 3eggs.

I honestly don't know how long they have been there, which is a shame I didn't see her lay them, as per previous clutches, but she didn't lay where she has laid previously, in a nice little sphagnum moss section i had specially made for her.

My question is, will the eggs survive after being in the substrate for an unknown time and not at the ideal incubation temps, as well as being a little dry?

How can I tell if they are still alive in the eggs?

I have supplied 2 pics of 2 eggs in the different clutches.
One is obviously smaller and looks pretty new, although they were a little dry as they were out of the direct path of the auto misting and she didn't cover them that well, which is a concern.
The second one is bigger and stained a bit, I think this is from the coir substrate I have in the enclosure, which pretty well stains anything brown!
As it's bigger I am assuming the babies are growing or have grown, but again how do I tell?

Do you just wait and see?

Cheers guys for help & replies in advance...:?

Those eggs are fine, and low temps shouldn't effect them. Make sure though they arn't rolled, as the embryo would have settled by now.

Hey thanks guys I feel reassured, much appreciated!

What are the ramifications if they aren't orientated exactly how they were laid?

I was pretty careful, but I am not sure if I have laid them exactly right...will it kill them if they are turned? :?

It doesn't have to be exact, reptile eggs are fairly forgiving within reason. I once had a Childrens egg roll off a wire rack onto a table top, about a 4 inch drop and it was fine. While I don't recommend juggling with them they are tougher than we give them credit for.
