Hi, i have a 11 month old CCP which i have had for just over 2 months now and she hasnt shed yet, today she came out of her hide and started rubbing her nose on everything she could find, does this mean she is about to start shedding and if so is there anything i need to do to help her or make the process easier for her, any advice would be appreciated , Cheers Trevor.

hi, just make sure the humidity is high and give her a water bowl she can soak in if needed and just leave her be. See how she goes

Sounds like its about to shed, when any of my snakes are about to shed,i move the water bowl closer to the heat source, which increases the humidity, ive never had any problems and the shed is all in one piece,Have you got much stuff in the cage so she can rub against to help remove the old shed..

Hi, pythons73, thanks for the reply, yes she has plenty of stuff to rub against and ample water supply, hope all goes well i will keep watching her closely, Cheers Trevor.

yeah you can do that if her enclosure is drying out. Do you have a little hygrometer in the enclosure ? when mine starts to dry out i just use a little spray bottle and mist it a couple of times a week or when needed.

Just make sure has access to water when there about to shed sometimes you can see white patches of skin trying to come off or there skin is duller also feels a lot rougher good if you have a water bowl big enough for them to coil there bodies in they even submerge there heads for few secounds at a time if not light spray with water bottle and good if theres sticks or branches can rub along help with the shed

theres no need to mist the enclosure , just move the water bowl [ or even put a temp 2nd water bowl up near the basking area] as that will raise the humidity enough .

that doesnt always work jaz101, sometimes an enclosure just needs that little bit extra.

I place the water bowl closer to the heat source,in which increases the humidity, works a treat, always the shed comes off in one piece..From owning 50-60pythons at one stage,IT WORKS...

i like to have a 2nd water bowl in the hot end of the enclosure to keep the humidity up slightly i just refill it every so often when it runs dry my 1st and last shed my jungle had was perfict

i tried it the other day and it still didnt get the humidity up to where i wanted it, so i misted and it got there. I dont want an argument, and doesnt mater how many snakes you own, everybody's set ups are different as there environments. Im just trying to help and give ideas. so get your nose out of my posts please

there is nothing wrong with misting nahla2062. I hope everything works out for you.

OP,can you please give the dimensions of enclosure, air vent #'s/position,light position/wattage ect so I can give some better advice for you.I live in Enfield,Adelaide and its quite dry here too so I know it can be an issue to get the desired results.:)

People,is it possible to please foward your disgusts via PM and not haw the thread up with he said, she saids or just plain chest beating? That would be the polite way in regards to the OP's thread being "clean" and "insightful",oh and not getting closed.
