hey everyone
a couple of months ago, i ordered 1500 cocroaches. they came and it was great but there is one problem..
they are very dirty. there are huge lummps of poo and some of it is growing mould :S so my question
is how is the best and easiest way of cleaning their tank?
thanks!

diluted lavender or eucalyptus oil in water is the best chemical free way, will get all the stuff off and sterilize it all, give it a good breather for 5-10mins before u put them back in. I use this in a spray bottle for all my reps encl. Smells great too. say about 2 capfuls to a spray bottle of water.

ok awesome .. but how do i get them out?

empty them into a garbage bag temporarily or something that will fit over the opening that you can shake them into. You wont need to keep them in it for long, but put some tiny holes in what ever you use so they can breathe. i have a mate that does this in the show (or any small enclosed area) incase some get out you can catch them easily.

yeah but i dont have a tub i have a glass enclosure.
Ok so i will try the eucaliptus oil because i think we have heaps of that. thanks!!

I have another container I put them in, sort of start off new, but yeah, just whatever will hold them while you clean the bin. Mine get smelly after a week or two, so 'try' clean their area at least once a fortnight - ahhh, in a perfect world!
Otherwise try these sites, might be something useful - www.theroachguy.com & www.bestroach.com
If u find a really easy solution, let us know:)

first, shake all the egg cartons (or whatever you use) in the tub so all the roaches and other crap fall off, and take out the egg cartons, so you have a tub full of roaches and rubbish. then get all the rubbish down into one corner. then, put the egg cartons in and wait until all the roaches go to them. every now and then, take out the egg cartons and shake off all the roaches into another conatiner until you got as many as you can. then, pick out any remaining ones in the container. once you got them all out, clean the tank, then put them all back in. works well and is pretty easy to do, should only take like 20 minutes
