Ok in may(i think) my female BHP had a prolapse. I came home from school and saw it out again. I have no castor sugar so i was wondering what is the next best thing? I am going to give her a warm bath and keep her heated tonight. I feed her last night but she hasnt pooed yet. Any help is geatly appreciated.

any type of sugar will do for now, castor sugar is just a more refined sugar... white sugar or even raw sugar if you have it around - I've never had to deal with it before myself so hopefully someone else can give you better advice, but I would definately start with sugar.

Sugar baths worked wonders for my Ackie - didn't use caster sugar though, just dissolved normal sugar or plain water.

Not salt! It'll probably just irritate it a lot worse, sugar brings down swelling and irritation.

hopefully someone in your area can suggest a 24/7 reptile vet or an experienced keeper that has dealt with prolapse before to help you out. All the best with it mate.

Lol i wasnt sure, i knew it would irretate. They are open only for emergencys. I think if i can take her
in the morning

I'd consider a prolapse an emergency.

Keep an eye on her, if it gets any worse she needs a vet.

If it's still out I'd suggest a warm bath to help it go back in, don't try to force it in, let her do that - but if it's out for too long it could dry out and damage her.

you think its woth calling the vet?
I put her into the water it went massive now its coming in again. I will keep you guys updated.

I know ill give it another 15 mins if not vet time for another surgery. (i hope not)

WELL DONE!!!! i bet your relieved! 8]. Reptile Cloacal Prolapse is when a section of tissue has become everted and is protruding out of the reptiles cloaca and vent.

That's good. Now you need to plan what to do to prevent it happening again probably in consult with a good herp vet.
