hi guys i have a couple of south west carpet pythons ( imbricata ) and without knowing my female has laid eggs and i have been down south during hte period it has happened, I need help to know where to go from here, she could have laid any time in the last 2 weeks, she is self incubating currently, i have the equipment to incubate but am unaware of whether it is too far in the process to take them from her. Please help !

If it was unexpected just let her self incubate, she knows what to do.

Kk, So full of stress and joy at hte same time.

Take it easy! and enjoy! My Maccy incubated her own eggs last year, most hatched. I did place her in a container with vermiculite, provided her with a heat source, away from the container and a large dish of water, she wandered around and did her thing!

Reckon i should carefully take her out of her enclosure put her in a 40 gallon tub with vermiculite and a heat cord underneath ?

I found my little girl, knew exactly what to do, I didn't heat the tub, but you could observe her going to the heat source and warming up or water if the eggs needed humidity, whatever she needed, then she would go back to the eggs and coil around them, great little mum :) Nature at its best :)

Wel should i put her in a seperate container to the male even without a major heat source? or just leave her as she is ?

What substrate are you using? I can ask a friend tomorrow who is experience, his main concern with my situation was humidity! Thus the container and vermiculite, he removed her from the eggs and very carefully moved the eggs and placed them in an indentation that he had made in the vermiculite, within 10 minutes she had inspected her new hide (plastic container) and coiled back around her eggs. Still being in her enclosure with familiar smells and contents helped her settle I think! I just did what he suggested, like you I wasn't really expecting eggs and was very nervous! I did separate the male and female! best of luck! When the little ones hatched I was so excited, like a kid at christmas. This is just what I did and I am sure there are a lot more experienced people here that would gladly help you..and make suggestions.

Im using multiple layers of newspaper, The eggs are dimpled wich worries me only because i dont no when she laid, if it was a few weeks ago then its normal but if its been recent then the humidity is too low, I think im just going to leave her in their with them control the temp and see how i go. Thank you all ill keep you updated, More information would be helpful.

I would be removing the male if he is in there
